HOW IT WORKS
Boards are shipped airport to airport and require pick up at the designated cargo facility.
It's basically booking an airline ticket for surfboards. Similar schedules and routes as passenger airline flights, with the same reliable schedule and tracking—except in this service, the packages are handled with the utmost care. In our experience air cargo services are more reliable than typical baggage handlers, mail carriers and door-to-door options.
After we receive your order and all items are packed and ready, we will reach out to you to confirm preferred pick up date and time. If we cannot confirm pick up, we will not ship. So if you are expecting a board, check those missed calls!
Once pick up is confirmed, we will book the flight and forward all shipping info and pick up instructions. Pick up times are flexible since most airlines allow 48hrs before charging storage fees and facilities are open all hours.

We are currently only able to ship boards 6'0 and under via FedEx.
For boards over 6'0, rates increase to around $500. We can offer quotes on request.

What happens if my board is damaged on arrival?
If your order arrives with shipping damage, please notify us ASAP (within 24 hours). All shipments include insurance coverage for the total cost of goods. Email us at info@arakawasurfboards.com with a detailed description including photos of shipping materials and items within.

**IMPORTANT FOR AIR CARGO** If you see visible damage to your board box, it is important to inspect the board inside the cargo facility with a cargo representitive in order to file a claim. Once the box leaves the facility, carriers are free of any liability and will deny damage claims. Arakawa Surfboards will not be able to file a claim on your behalf.

Our goal is to deliver products and surfboards in perfect condition. We prefer replacing any damaged items over repair. In cases in which travel dates and locations add complexity, we will do whatever we can to make things right.
How do I pick up my air cargo shipment?
Before we ship your board, we will send you the tracking info and the address of the cargo facility at your airport.
Once it is ready to pick up, all you need is to show them is your ID and the air waybill (AWB) # received by email with your shipping confirmation.
To give customers a nice pick up window, cargo facilities typically hold shipments for 48hrs before charging storage fees.

If my buddy and I both put in an order, can we have our boards shipped together to save money?
Yes! Not a problem.
Let us know and we can make sure the orders are packed together. You just have to jon ken po who's name is officially on the shipment. They will be the one who must be present to pick up. Carrier's will only release a shipment to the ID holder that matches the AWB.
My local shop carries Arakawa boards. Can I pick up my custom order there?
Yes! Support your local surf shop by placing your custom order through your neighborhood Arakawa dealer. Check out our list of shops here.
The experience is the same. Still speak to Eric or Nat to get dialed, just this time we hand off the rest (payment, pick up, etc.) to your shop.
